Dear guests and neighbors,
Thank you for your willingness to help stray animals, we do appreciate it, and we will try to provide you with the links to the best resources available on this topic.
Cats living around Lazure complex are fed and taken care of by dedicated staff members and do not need any extra food. Excess food left here and there attracts more and more cats to the complex that is causing territory fights, injuries and often doesn’t end well. Also, not all guests do like the cats, so we are desperately trying to keep their furry community under control.
is a partnership of voluntary charities that helps homeless cats in Montenegro live healthier lives and reduces the stray population through a high-volume spay-neuter program.
is a community of people and volunteers who care about stray animals in Montenegro.
is one of the first, largest and well-organized private animal shelter in Montenegro (located close to Podgorica).
It is easy to get desperate when you realize how many dogs and cats in Montenegro need help. No one can save all of them, but even if it is just one animal it will change the whole world for him/her.
You can also contact or visit local dog shelter; it is located in the mountains around 30 mins driving from the hotel.
Before the visit please contact volunteers supporting shelter via Facebook page
Please do so on other locations along Meljine and Herceg Novi - if you walk around, especially early in the morning, you will find many cats who would appreciate your food donation. Please use only quality cat food that you can buy in the local pet stores (we do not recommend the cheapest options like Whiskas and Friskies, all the rest like for example, Josera, Brit and Felix will do) and do not feed cats with food from restaurants as it might not be very healthy for them.
If you can possibly catch and transport the animal to the nearest town and take the animal to a vet clinic, then please do so. Offer what you can to help pay for treatment or to cover the cost of euthanasia.

First, try to check that their mother is nowhere around, wait for 10-15 minutes to see if she comes back. If their mother is not there, then take the kittens to a safe place, put hot water bottles near them.
If you have no experience with kittens, ask for advice or contact the volunteers on the Facebook page or Kotor Kitties.
Please bear in mind that there are very few volunteers dealing with stray animals help in Montenegro with very few resources available, and most of them already do have significant number of animals to take care of and probably can not react on your request immediately.
Here you can find a detailed instruction on how to feed kittens while you are looking for long-term solution for them:
