Welcome to Lazure!

For almost 300 years, this place has welcomed travelers to Herceg Novi. In the past, it greeted them with strict rules and fortified walls, allowing entrance only from the seaside. Today, it opens its doors to you with a spirit of warmth and service at the highest level. As you look around, you’ll see how this transformation came to be.

Imagine it’s the 18th century. The Venetians have just constructed this building as a lazaret—a quarantine and customs area. Here, travelers and goods were checked and permitted before journeying further by land or sea. These solid walls protected the area, and under Venetian control, this was a bustling place of inspection and regulation.

Time moved on, and so did Lazure’s role. When Herceg Novi became part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, these walls saw new life as a military facility. In the 20th century, it transformed once more, becoming warehouses that held all kinds of goods. But by the early 21st century, the lazaret was no longer in its prime. Fortunately, that was about to change.

After careful reconstruction, Lazure was reborn as one of the most celebrated 5-star hotels in the Adriatic region. The name “Lazure” reflects both its historic roots and the serene beauty of the azure skies and tranquil seas that surround us.

Today, Lazure is a unique blend of old and new, where the past meets the present to create an unforgettable experience. As you explore, remember: you’re a part of this continuing history.

Enjoy your stay—or as we say here in Herceg Novi, uživajte!
